Group programs that help people improve their balance, build strength and feel more confident moving safely.
About our Falls Prevention Programs
Salveo Healthcare provides Falls Prevention Programs for people who may be at risk of having a fall. Falls are common as people get older and can lead to injury, loss of confidence and less independence. The good news is that simple exercises and education can help reduce this risk.
Our programs combine safe exercise with easy-to-understand information. Each program is designed to help people build strength, improve balance and feel more confident doing everyday activities.
Our Falls Prevention Programs have been supported by Healthy Tasmania, an initiative of the Tasmanian Government, Primary Health Tasmania and in partnership with St Lukes eligible members.
What does the Falls Prevention Program include?
The Falls Prevention Program is a small group program that includes supervised exercise and simple education. Sessions are held in person each week and are led by qualified instructors.
Programs usually run for 6 to 8 weeks. The exercises are safe, gentle and tailored to suit the group.
Our programs are guided by best practice advice for preventing and managing falls in older people.
Who is the Falls Prevention Program for?
These programs are for people who may be at risk of falling or who feel less steady on their feet. This may include people who have trouble moving around, have had a recent illness or injury, or need support to complete everyday tasks safely.
Participants are usually aged 60 years and over, or 45 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
How does it work?
The program uses exercise and education that may support people to:
- build strength
- improve balance
- move more safely
- feel more confident
- reduce their risk of falls
